"Early intervention and assessment of visually impaired children with multiple disabilities" seminar, Belgrade

"Early intervention and assessment of visually impaired children with multiple disabilities" seminar was held at the Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation in Belgrade on 27th and 28th April.
Seminar was organized by Perkins International and University of Belgrade - Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation with representative Branka Jablan.

Lecturers were four employees of "Mali dom-Zagreb", Marijana Konkoli Zdešić, Ana Validžić Požgaj, Zvonko Majstorović and Snjezana Seitz.
Current situation in Serbia related to early intervention for children with hearing and vision impairments were presented by Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation members Vesna Vučinić and Sanja Đoković.

The seminar was attended by 40 participants from all over Serbia. Some of the topics covered by employees of Mali dom-Zagreb were related to the team approach to early intervention, theoretical models, working with families, comprehensive assessment, detection, referral protocols, expert support in the family, setting goals and creating IEP, evaluation of activities, objectives and progress of the child.

The seminar was conducted through a series of presentations and workshops combining practical and theoretical work.
Throughout the two days, an interesting discussion among the participants took place and the foundation for further cooperation has been established. Also the need for specific topics that would be covered in the future was pointed out.
