MALI PUTOKAZ – Telephone Counseling Service for Support to Parents and Guardians of Children with Developmental Disabilities

The Mali dom Center offers a free telephone counseling service for parents/guardians of children with disabilities, especially during the sensitive period immediately after the child’s birth or after a diagnosis has been made. This is a time when parents often face fear, uncertainty, and many questions, without clear guidance on where and how to seek help.

Through the telephone counseling service, parents/guardians can:

• Learn more about rights and options for inclusion in the early intervention system;
• Get information about available rehabilitation services and programs;
• Receive advice on stimulating the child’s development at home;
• Talk with educational rehabilitation professionals about the child’s behavior, communication, and emotional development;
• Receive professional support and guidance in coping with stress and parenting challenges;
• Receive recommendations for further steps, specialists, and institutions that can provide assistance;
• Feel that they are not alone - receive understanding, support, and encouragement.

Coordinator: Tamara Bobić, Prof. of Rehabilitation, Univ. Specialist in Psychosocial Work

She has extensive professional experience working in institutions directly focused on children with disabilities.
In addition to institutional work, she collaborates with numerous non-governmental organizations through projects aimed at education, prevention of behavioral problems, and the social inclusion of children and young people.
Her special focus is individual and group counseling work with children with developmental disabilities and their parents, providing support in daily challenges, emotional functioning, and the development of competencies.
Today, she also works as a supervisor and educator in programs for professionals and parents, with an emphasis on supporting families of children with disabilities and strengthening the professional capacities of those who work with them.
